AI enablement and automation
The infrastructure under your AI workloads, sized and run properly
AI enablement is the infrastructure work that has to happen before an AI project produces anything: compute with the right accelerators, storage fast enough to feed it, a network that can move the data, and protection for the data itself. Storcom sizes, procures, deploys and manages that platform, on premises, in a private cloud or in Azure and AWS.

What does AI enablement mean for infrastructure?
An AI workload stresses infrastructure differently from a database or a file server. Training and fine-tuning want accelerators and very fast reads across large datasets. Inference wants predictable latency close to the application. Retrieval systems add a large and growing store of documents and embeddings that needs the same backup and recovery as any other production data.
Most of the failed starts we see are infrastructure problems: a GPU server ordered without the power and cooling to run it, storage that cannot feed it, or a pilot in a cloud account with no cost limit and no backup.
What Storcom delivers
Workload sizing
We size compute, memory, accelerators, storage throughput and network for the workload you plan to run, and state the assumptions.
GPU servers
GPU-capable Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant and Lenovo ThinkSystem servers, configured to order and quoted with deal registration.
Storage for AI data
All-flash arrays for the hot path and scale-out file or S3 object storage for datasets and archives, such as Dell PowerScale and ObjectScale, Everpure FlashBlade and the HPE Alletra Storage MP X10000, compared across vendors.
Where it should run
A priced comparison of on premises, Storcom hosted private cloud and Azure or AWS, including what the data rules allow.
Data protection
Backup, immutable copies and a recovery plan for datasets, document stores and the systems around them.
Day-two operations
Monitoring, patching and 24×7×365 support for the platform after it is in production.
Where should an AI workload run?
| Option | Fits when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| On premises | Steady, heavy use, or data that may not leave your building | Power, cooling and rack space for accelerator servers |
| Storcom hosted private cloud | Supporting systems and data that need a private, managed home near the workload | Accelerator needs, which we scope case by case |
| Azure or AWS | Bursty or experimental work, or managed AI services you want to consume | Cost governance and where the data is stored |
Many organizations end up with a mix. We price each path before you commit.
Automation Storcom already runs
Automation here means infrastructure and recovery operations, not business process automation.
Orchestrated failover
Veeam and Zerto recovery plans that bring systems up in the right order, tested against your stated RTO and RPO.
Ransomware detection in storage
IBM states that FlashCore Module 5 in the current FlashSystem 5600, 7600 and 9600 detects ransomware in under a minute, and Dell PowerStore, Dell PowerMax and the HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000 also build detection into the array.
Dependency mapping
Automated discovery of which systems depend on which, used to plan migrations and recovery order.
What this service is not
Storcom does not build models, write AI applications or automate business processes. We build and run the platform underneath, and we work alongside your developers, data team or software vendor.
Technology we deploy for this
IBM Partner Plus Silver partner for IBM FlashSystem storage: we size, deploy, migrate and support all-flash arrays with built-in ransomware threat detection and Safeguarded Copy snapshots.
Dell PowerStore, PowerMax, PowerScale, ObjectScale and PowerVault storage, PowerProtect Data Domain, PowerEdge servers and Dell networking, quoted with deal registration and deployed by Storcom engineers.
HPE ProLiant servers, Alletra, MSA and StoreOnce storage, and networking, configured to your workloads by Storcom and kept under support through their lifecycle.
Everpure, formerly Pure Storage: FlashArray and FlashBlade all-flash storage with Evergreen subscriptions, sized and deployed by Storcom as one of several storage options.
Lenovo ThinkSystem servers configured to order and quoted with deal registration for compute and virtualization refreshes.
Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365, with Storcom managing Azure resources and backing up Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.
Amazon Web Services infrastructure for workloads that belong in public cloud, sized, migrated and managed by Storcom.

Frequently asked questions
What infrastructure does an AI workload need?
It depends on the workload. Training and fine-tuning need GPU servers, fast storage and a high-throughput network. Inference needs less compute but steady, low latency. Retrieval systems need room for a growing document and vector store. Storcom sizes each part before anything is ordered.
Should we run AI on premises or in the cloud?
Steady, heavy workloads and data with strict residency rules often cost less and are easier to control on premises. Experiments and bursty work usually fit Azure or AWS. Storcom models both, plus hosted private cloud for the supporting systems, and gives you pricing on each.
Does Storcom build AI models or applications?
No. Storcom designs, deploys and manages the infrastructure, storage, network, security and data protection that AI workloads run on. Your developers, data team or software vendor build the models and applications.
Do AI datasets need to be backed up?
Yes. Training data, document stores, vector databases and model artifacts are production data. They are also a ransomware target. Storcom protects them with the same immutable backup and tested recovery used for the rest of your environment.
What does automation cover?
Infrastructure and recovery operations: orchestrated failover with Veeam and Zerto, ransomware detection built into IBM FlashSystem, and automated dependency mapping for migrations. It does not cover business process automation.
