Your firewall, patched, tuned and watched
A managed firewall service puts a provider in charge of the day-to-day care of your perimeter firewalls: rule and policy management, firmware updates, monitoring and change control. Storcom manages application-aware firewalls, including Cisco platforms, keeps every change documented and reversible, and gives your team 24×7×365 support when something breaks.

Why does firewall management slip?
Firewalls get installed carefully and then managed in a hurry. Rules are added for a project or a vendor and never removed. Firmware falls behind because an update means a maintenance window nobody has time to schedule. Logs pile up unread.
Each of those is a real risk. Firewalls and VPN gateways sit on the internet, which makes them a common target, and an unpatched one is an open door. A managed firewall service makes that care routine.
What is included
Policy management
We review rule sets, remove unused and overly broad rules, and implement new requests against a standard we agree with you.
Firmware and patching
Vendor updates and security fixes are reviewed, scheduled and applied in maintenance windows, with a rollback plan.
Monitoring and alerting
Security events, VPN activity, performance and utilization are monitored, with alerts on device health and suspicious traffic.
Change control
Every change is requested, approved, documented and backed up, so you always know who changed what and why.
Reporting

How does onboarding work?
Review
We back up your current configuration and review rules, firmware levels, VPN setup and logging.
Clean up
We agree a rule standard with you, then remove what is unused and tighten what is too broad, in planned changes.
Patch
Firmware is brought up to a supported, current release.
Run
Ongoing monitoring, change requests, patching and reporting under the agreed service level.

Frequently asked questions
What is a managed firewall service?
A managed firewall service is an arrangement in which a provider handles the ongoing care of your firewalls: rule changes, firmware updates, monitoring and change control. You keep ownership of the policy decisions. Storcom does the work and documents every change.
Which firewall brands does Storcom manage?
Storcom is a Cisco partner and manages Cisco firewalls. If you run another platform, tell us what you have and we will confirm during scoping whether we can manage it as it is or recommend a replacement at your next refresh.
Do we need to buy new firewalls?
Not necessarily. If your current devices are supported and have room to grow, we manage what you have. If they are near end of support, we size and procure a replacement and migrate your rules.
How are firewall changes requested?
Your team submits a change request by ticket, email or phone. We review it against the agreed rule standard, schedule it, implement it, and record what changed so it can be reversed if needed.
Does a managed firewall replace endpoint protection?
No. A firewall controls traffic at the network edge, while EDR watches what happens on each laptop and server. Attackers who get in with stolen credentials or a phishing email are already past the perimeter, so most organizations need both.
