Recovery and retention you can show an examiner

Financial services IT resilience means protecting transaction, client and policy data with retention that matches your record-keeping rules and recovery proven by testing. Storcom designs, deploys and manages immutable backup, disaster recovery and private cloud for banks, credit unions, investment firms and insurers, and documents each failover test so you have evidence for examiners.

What we hear from financial services IT teams

  • Examiners want proof, not plans

FFIEC guidance expects business continuity plans to be tested, and examiners ask for the results. A runbook nobody has executed is hard to defend.

  • Retention that outlasts your hardware

Records may need to be kept for years in a form that can’t be altered. That retention has to survive array refreshes, migrations and ransomware.

  • Workloads that don’t fit public cloud

Core banking, fund management and policy systems are often traditional applications. Running them in public cloud with the redundancy and backup they need can cost more than planned.

  • Security duties on a lean team

GLBA safeguards call for a written information security program, and SEC Regulation S-P requires advisers and broker-dealers to keep an incident response program. Small IT teams carry all of it.

What we run for financial institutions

  • Immutable backup retention

Veeam-based backup with off-site copies locked against change or deletion for the retention period you set, plus restore validation reports.

  • Disaster recovery with test records

DRaaS for Veeam or our Managed Recovery Program, with documented runbooks, scheduled failover tests and a report after each one.

  • Hosted private cloud

Single-tenant infrastructure we manage for workloads that need isolation, steady performance and a clear line of control.

  • Continuous risk scanning

Ongoing vulnerability assessment through CrowdStrike Falcon, so vulnerabilities are found and tracked between audits, not only during them.

  • Business continuity consulting

Business impact analysis, recovery objectives and continuity plans written around the systems you actually run.

Public cloud or private cloud for sensitive workloads?

Many institutions run both. We price the options side by side before you commit.

Recovery evidence worth having on file

Before your next exam or audit, check whether you can produce each of these.

  • A current business impact analysis with RTO and RPO for each critical system
  • Recent failover test results, including what failed and how it was fixed
  • Restore test records for backups, not only job success logs
  • Proof that backup copies stay immutable or offline for the full retention period
  • A documented runbook with a named owner for each recovery step
  • Due diligence records for every third party that manages your systems

Where the regulations fit

Banks and credit unions work under FFIEC guidance and GLBA’s safeguards requirements. Investment advisers and broker-dealers face SEC record-keeping rules and Regulation S-P. Insurers answer to state insurance regulators, many of which have adopted insurance data security laws.

We design backup, retention, recovery and security controls that support those requirements, and we document every test so your team has evidence to show. Your compliance officer still owns the interpretation. We make sure the technology and the paperwork match.

Frequently asked questions

What does immutable backup mean for financial records?

An immutable backup cannot be changed or deleted until its retention period ends, including by someone using stolen admin credentials. That protects the copy from ransomware and from accidental or malicious deletion. We set retention to match your record-keeping requirements and validate restores on a schedule.

How do you document disaster recovery tests for examiners?

Each failover test under our Managed Recovery Program ends with a post-test report covering what was recovered, how long it took against the target and what needs to change. The runbook is updated after every test. Those records give your team evidence to share with examiners and auditors.

Is private cloud more secure than Azure or AWS?

Neither is secure by default. Security depends on how the environment is designed and run. Private cloud gives you dedicated infrastructure and a clear boundary for sensitive workloads, which some institutions prefer, and we help you place each workload where it fits on security, performance and cost.

Do you work with insurers and investment firms, or only banks?

Our published case studies cover an investment firm, a nonprofit finance company and a specialty auto insurer, where we managed private cloud and disaster recovery. Ask us about references closer to your own institution. The common thread is sensitive data, a lean IT team and recovery that has to be proven.

Can you help us close an audit finding on backup or DR?

Yes, when the finding involves backup, recovery or security controls. We review the gap, design the fix and document that it is in place. Your compliance team decides how to respond to the finding itself.
