Endpoint threats caught and contained around the clock

Managed endpoint detection and response (EDR) pairs software on every laptop and server with analysts who watch it around the clock, investigate alerts, and contain threats such as ransomware. Storcom deploys EDR on CrowdStrike Falcon or Arctic Wolf, whose analysts watch 24×7, then tunes the policies to your environment and escalates what needs your decision.

Why is antivirus no longer enough?

Traditional antivirus looks for known malicious files. Many attacks now use stolen credentials and legitimate admin tools, so there is no file to catch. EDR records what happens on each endpoint (processes, network connections, logins) and flags behavior that looks like an attack in progress.

The catch is that EDR produces alerts, and alerts need someone to look at them, often on a weekend or in the middle of the night. Managed EDR puts trained analysts behind the tool, so a real threat is investigated and contained when it happens, not discovered on Monday morning.

What is monitored

  • Processes and behavior

What runs on each endpoint, what launched it, and whether the sequence matches known attacker techniques such as credential dumping or mass file encryption.

  • Network connections

Outbound connections to suspicious destinations, and lateral movement from one internal machine to another.

  • Logins and privileges

Unusual logons, privilege changes, and admin tools used by accounts that do not normally use them.

  • Files and persistence

New executables, scheduled tasks, services and registry changes that let an attacker survive a reboot.

How are alerts triaged and contained?

  1. Detect

The EDR sensor flags suspicious behavior and sends it to the platform for analysis.

  2. Triage

Analysts review the alert in context, rule out false positives, and rate the severity.

  3. Contain

For a confirmed threat, the endpoint can be isolated from the network, the malicious process stopped and files quarantined, under response rules you approved in advance.

  4. Escalate and report

You get a clear account of what happened, what was done, and anything that needs your decision, such as resetting credentials or restoring data.

  5. Tune

Policies and exclusions are adjusted so the same false alarm does not come back.

Which managed EDR option fits?

Storcom partners with both. We recommend based on your environment, existing tools and budget.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between EDR and MDR?

EDR is the technology: software on each endpoint that records activity and detects threats. MDR, or managed detection and response, is the service: people who monitor that technology around the clock, investigate alerts and respond. Managed EDR from Storcom gives you both.

Can managed EDR stop ransomware?

EDR detects the behavior that leads up to ransomware, such as credential theft, lateral movement and mass file encryption, and can isolate the affected endpoint. No single tool guarantees prevention, which is why we pair EDR with tested backups and a disaster recovery plan.

How do we get started with managed EDR?

Start with a discovery call. We review your current endpoint protection and how alerts are handled today, recommend the right option, and give you pricing before you commit.

Will we lose control of our endpoints?

No. Response actions such as isolating a machine follow rules you approve during onboarding. Anything outside those rules, or anything with business impact, is escalated to your team for a decision.

Do we have to remove our current antivirus?

Usually yes, because running two endpoint agents side by side can cause conflicts and performance problems. We plan the migration so the new agent is deployed and verified before the old one is removed, which avoids a gap in protection.

Which endpoints are covered?

Windows, macOS and Linux workstations and servers, including cloud-hosted servers, with exact coverage depending on the platform you choose. We confirm support for your operating systems during scoping.
