Backup
Backups that are off-site, immutable and proven to restore
Backup as a service (BaaS) is a managed service that copies your servers, files and Microsoft 365 data to off-site storage on a schedule and keeps it recoverable. Storcom runs Veeam-based backup with immutable off-site copies, monitors backup jobs, tests restores and reports the results, so you know your data comes back.

Watch a failover
Lose the primary site and see what a tested runbook does next: systems come up in dependency order at the recovery site and users are reconnected.
Production running. Replication healthy.
- 1Primary site lost
- 2Failover started from the runbook
- 3Systems up in dependency order
- 4Users reconnected at the recovery site
Illustration only. Your recovery time is the RTO we design and test with you.
Why backups that run aren’t the same as backups that restore
Most teams have backups. Fewer are confident they can recover quickly under pressure. Jobs report success while a repository quietly fills, the encryption password lives on the server it protects, or the only copy sits on the same network ransomware just reached.
Backup as a service closes that gap. Storcom designs the protection, keeps a copy off-site and immutable, watches the jobs and restores from them on a schedule, so the first real test isn’t during an outage.
Does your backup meet the 3-2-1-1-0 rule?
3-2-1-1-0 is a simple test for any backup design. If you can’t check every line, there is a gap worth closing.
- 3 copies of your data: production plus two backups
- 2 different types of storage, so one failure cannot take out both backups
- 1 copy off-site, beyond the reach of a fire, flood or power event at your building
- 1 copy immutable or air-gapped, so ransomware or a stolen admin login cannot delete it
- 0 errors when restores are verified, tested on a schedule rather than assumed
Backup or DRaaS: which do you need?
Backup protects your data. Disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) protects how fast you are running again. Many organizations need both, for different systems.
| Question | Backup as a service | DRaaS |
|---|---|---|
| What it protects | Data: files, databases, VMs and Microsoft 365, as point-in-time copies | Running systems: replicated servers ready to start in a recovery site |
| How recovery works | Restore data to repaired or rebuilt systems | Fail over to the replicas, then fail back when your site is ready |
| Recovery time (RTO) | Longer: rebuild, then restore | Shorter: systems start in the recovery site |
| Data loss window (RPO) | Back to the last backup, usually nightly or hourly | Back to the last replication point, usually much closer to the event |
| Relative cost | Lower: storage and software | Higher: replicated systems standing by |
| Best for | Every system, plus long-term retention | Systems the business can’t do without for more than a few hours |

What Storcom backup covers
Veeam cloud backup
Off-site copies of your on-premises and cloud workloads, sent from the Veeam console your team already uses.
Microsoft 365 backup
Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams backed up outside Microsoft, with retention you set.
Immutable off-site copies
Object lock or air-gapped storage, so backups can’t be changed or deleted before their retention ends.
Restore validation and reporting
Scheduled restore tests and plain reports you can hand to leadership, an auditor or a cyber insurer.
Technology we deploy for this
Veeam backup and replication for virtual, physical, cloud and Microsoft 365 workloads, plus Veeam-based cloud backup and DRaaS that Storcom runs for you.
Microsoft Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365, with Storcom managing Azure resources and backing up Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.

Frequently asked questions
What is the 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule?
It is a checklist for a resilient backup design: keep 3 copies of your data, on 2 different types of storage, with 1 copy off-site, 1 copy immutable or air-gapped, and 0 errors when restores are tested. It extends the older 3-2-1 rule to account for ransomware and for backups that were never verified.
Is backup the same as disaster recovery?
No. Backup keeps copies of data so you can restore it. Disaster recovery brings whole systems back within a stated recovery time, usually by replicating servers to a second site and failing over. Most organizations use backup for everything and disaster recovery for the systems they can’t be without.
How often should we test restores?
Often enough that a failed restore shows up as a test finding, not an outage surprise. A practical baseline is a sample of file and VM restores every month and a full application restore at least once a year, plus after major changes. Storcom schedules the tests and reports the results.
Can you back up workloads that run in Azure or AWS?
Yes. Cloud workloads need backups stored outside the production account, with an immutable copy, just like on-premises systems. Storcom extends the same Veeam-based design and restore testing to cover them.
Do we have to replace our current backup software?
Not necessarily. If you already run Veeam, Storcom can add off-site, immutable copies to your existing setup. If you run something else, Storcom reviews it with you during discovery and recommends changes only where they close a real gap.
