Keep citizen services running on a budget you can predict

Government IT continuity means keeping citizen services, public safety systems and agency records available and recoverable through outages and cyberattacks. Storcom designs, deploys and manages backup, disaster recovery, security and infrastructure for municipalities, counties and public agencies, with predictable costs, CJIS-aware security design and recovery plans tested against agreed recovery objectives.

What we hear from government IT teams

  • Services residents notice right away

Permits, utility billing, courts and dispatch can’t wait for a long restore. When a system goes down, residents feel it the same day.

  • Budgets set a year in advance

Spending follows the adopted budget, and surprise costs need council or board approval. A virtualization renewal that jumps mid-cycle has no line item.

  • Public safety data under CJIS

Police, sheriff and dispatch systems that touch criminal justice information fall under the FBI CJIS Security Policy, which sets rules for access, encryption, logging and vendor access.

  • Procurement that takes months

RFPs, quotes and approval meetings stretch timelines. Hardware that reaches end of support during that process leaves a gap nobody planned for.

  • Ransomware aimed at local government

Cities and counties are frequent ransomware targets, and attackers go after backups first. A lean team has to defend everything, every day.

What we deliver for public agencies

  • Managed security

Managed EDR, managed firewall and continuous risk scanning with 24×7×365 support, for teams without a full-time security staff.

  • Backup with immutable copies

Veeam-based backup with off-site copies that can’t be altered or deleted during retention, so ransomware doesn’t take your recovery with it.

  • Disaster recovery and continuity

Replication of critical systems, documented runbooks and scheduled failover tests, with a service delivery manager who owns the failover.

  • Infrastructure refresh

Storage, servers and networking sized to your workloads and timed to your fiscal year and procurement steps.

What are your options when the VMware renewal breaks the budget?

When a renewal quote lands mid-cycle, we model three paths and price all of them before you commit.

What are your options when the VMware renewal breaks the budget?
PathWhat changesCost profileBest fit
Stay putRenew licensing and keep your current hostsHigher subscription cost, little project workRecent hardware and no room for a project this budget year
Hosted private cloudWorkloads move to dedicated infrastructure we manageRecurring operating cost, no hardware purchaseAging hosts or a small team that wants less to maintain

The right answer often differs by workload. The comparison is part of the design phase.

Security for public safety and CJIS data

Any system that stores or passes criminal justice information, such as records management, computer-aided dispatch or mobile data terminals, falls under the FBI CJIS Security Policy. The policy covers multifactor authentication, encryption, audit logging, incident response and screening for anyone with access, vendors included.

We design backup, recovery and security controls with that policy in mind and work with your local agency security officer on what applies to your systems. Your agency and your state’s CJIS Systems Agency make the final call on what the policy requires.

How we work within public procurement

  1. Discover

A discovery call about your systems, your risks and your budget cycle, at no cost.

  2. Design

Architecture, roadmap and pricing structured to your fiscal year, with phases you can fund across budget cycles.

  3. Procure

Scopes and quotes written for your purchasing process, whether that is an RFP response or a quote for council or board approval.

  4. Implement and manage

Deployment and migration, then monitoring, testing and 24×7×365 support against an agreed service level.

Frequently asked questions

How do you handle CJIS requirements for police and dispatch systems?

We design backup, recovery and security controls with the FBI CJIS Security Policy in mind, including multifactor authentication, encryption and audit logging. Your agency and your state CJIS Systems Agency decide what the policy requires for each system and for any vendor access. We work through those requirements with your local agency security officer before work begins.

How do you keep costs predictable for a public budget?

We price the work before you commit and structure it around your fiscal year. Managed services run on an agreed monthly scope, and larger projects can be phased across budget cycles so nothing lands as a surprise mid-year.

Do small towns and counties need disaster recovery, or just backup?

Backup lets you restore data. Disaster recovery keeps services running when a server, a building or a network is lost. Smaller municipalities often need both for a few critical systems such as utility billing, finance and public safety, and the design work identifies which systems need fast failover.

What happens if ransomware hits our network?

With immutable backups and a tested runbook, recovery starts from clean copies the attacker couldn’t delete. Under our Managed Recovery Program, a service delivery manager executes the recovery procedures with your team and reports on what was restored. Support is available 24×7×365 at 1 (866) 610-7472.

How does an agency get started with Storcom?

Start with a discovery call. We talk through your systems, your recovery expectations and your budget cycle, then come back with options you can use to support a budget request. There is no cost and no commitment.
