DR and business continuity for a Chicago architectural firm

A large Chicago-based architectural firm needed round-the-clock operations as more projects started abroad, and its aging systems had to be replaced. Storcom sized a DR and business continuity solution, replicated the firm’s data to a Storcom data center in Chicago’s western suburbs, and built a DR runbook that the firm tests on a schedule.

The challenge

The firm needed to keep operations running around the clock as more of its projects were launched abroad.

Leadership saw data recovery and backup as essential to staying ahead of competitors.

Its existing systems were aging and had to be replaced anyway, which made it the right time to evaluate a new approach.

What Storcom did

We gathered the necessary data and sized a Recover by Storcom disaster recovery and business continuity solution.

The firm’s data replicates to Storcom’s data center in Chicago’s western suburbs.

We helped the firm build and maintain a DR runbook that is tested regularly.

The solution has evolved with the firm. It recently upgraded to a new solution that better suits its needs, and the runbook foundation put in place five years ago is still valid, updated for new requirements and processes.

The outcome

  • More than five years of work together across multiple solutions.
  • A business continuity plan the firm maintains and tests with Storcom.
