Data security and compliance for a tools manufacturer

A large American designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-end tools was required to improve visibility into customer personal data such as credit card and Social Security numbers. Storcom assessed its requirements, built an IT data security roadmap, and implemented encryption and compliance tooling from Thales and SafeNet, plus strategies for retention, key management and DR.

The challenge

The company was mandated to provide better visibility into customer data, centered on personal information such as credit card and Social Security numbers.

The first tasks were manageable. As more requirements were added, it became clear the company needed a broader IT strategy rather than one-off fixes.

What Storcom did

We completed a full assessment of the company’s requirements and sat down with its leaders to understand the organization’s long-term goals.

From that analysis, we created an IT data security roadmap to protect the company’s data and core assets.

We implemented data encryption and compliance tooling from Thales and SafeNet to protect, and secure access to, the company’s most sensitive information and software.

The outcome

  • Encryption and compliance controls in place around the company’s key data assets.
  • A defined strategy for data retention, key management, and disaster recovery and business continuity for that data.
  • An IT data security roadmap tied to the organization’s long-term goals.
